Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: Trip Overview

Travel to several Tibetan towns, admire the magical Mansarovar Lake and finally do the Kailash Kora

Our trip to Lhasa and Mansarover Lake and Kailash Kora started in Lhasa, and Lhasa is also considered the cradle of Tibetan civilization. Then we travel through several Tibetan cities to the charming Lake Mansarover and finally to the Sacred Mountain. Kailash. During our trip to the Tibetan city, we visited incredible places and monasteries such as the Potala Palace, the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the Phalkot Monastery, Gyantse Dzong, the Shalu Temple and more.

For a devoted adventure explorer, this trip offers the immense beauty of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, solitude and sense of accomplishment, and visits Lake Mansarovar and the mountains for devout pilgrims. Kailash will be the ultimate realization of his spiritual quest.

Important information :

1.You need to arrive 3 days earlier to start tour .

2.Send the valid (at least 6 month )copy of your passport .

3.Each Saturday we will have fix departure so need to confirm 1 month earlier to book trip.

4.We will have BB plan so you can order the food own your own.

5,At least need to pay 20% of total amount while  booking trip.If you need Sherpa  crew please add another 500$ in your total amount .

6.Do not expect high and luxury life at Kailash because this is landscape and Cultural tour .

7.HAN always suggest you to have insurance and all health fitness .

8.We organize 4 days tour here in Nepal before departing to Tibet as well.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa (3,650m/11,972ft)

Day 02: Sightseeing in Lhasa: Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace and Tibet Traditional Hospital: 5 – 6 hours

Day 03: Sightseeing in Lhasa: Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar: 5 – 6 hours

Day 04: Lhasa to Shigatse (3,900m/12,795 ft): 367km, 8 – 9 hours

Day 05: Shigatse to Saga (4,640 m/15,223ft): 447km, 9-10 hours

Day 06: Saga to Mansarover Lake (4,556m/ 14947ft): 370km, 6-7 hours

Day 07: Mansarover to Darchen(4,600m/15091ft):50 km, 1hour

Day 08: Kailash Kora: 56km, 3 days

Day 09: Kora

Day 10: Kora ends, back to Saga: 495 km, 7-8 hours

Day 11: Saga to Shigatse: 445 Kms, 8-9 hours

Day 12: Shigatse to Lhasa: 265 km, 4-5 hours

Day 13: Final departure

Bedroom

We will stay at the Kyichu hotel in Lhasa, the Gesar hotel in Shigatse and the teahouses in Saga, Manasarovar and Kailash Kora. All accommodation is shared by two people. A single supplement is available upon request and costs USD 780.

Food

Breakfast (limited) will be served in Lhasa and Shigatse. Therefore, it is better to reserve a food budget for breakfast elsewhere, as well as for lunch and dinner.

Best travel time

The summer months from May to September are ideal for this trip. The climate is pleasant and the weather is pleasant. The average temperature is around 0 to 20 degrees Celsius. In addition, summer is also suitable for all outdoor activities: visit the temple, immerse yourself in holy water and visit the nearby attractions.

    Day 1
    Arrival in Lhasa (3,650 m / 11,972 ft)
    We fly directly from Nepal or we arrive in Lhasa through mainland China. If we decide to take off from Nepal, then we will enjoy a beautiful one-hour trans-Himalayan flight, flying over Everest (8,848 m), Kanchenjunga (8,536 m) and other Himalayan peaks and glaciers. If we decide to travel from mainland China to Lhasa, we can fly from any major city in China or take the highest train route in the world to Lhasa. Upon arrival in Lhasa, representatives of the Himalayan adventure in Nepal will take us an hour by car from the airport or the train station to our designated hotel in Lhasa. It is recommended that we take adequate rest during the rest of the day to minimize altitude sickness. Spend the night in Lhasa.
    Day 2
    Visit to Lhasa: Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace and Tibetan Traditional Hospital: 5 to 6 hours
    We started sightseeing in Lhasa after breakfast. Today is the day we visited the beautiful Potala Palace and the Norbulingka Palace. Built in the seventeenth century, the Potala Palace offers breathtaking views of the entire city, the private area of ​​the Dalai Lama and many large and large rooms and chapels. The Norbulingka Palace is the summer residence of the Dalai Lama and is considered the largest artificial garden in Tibet. Next, we visit the Tibetan Traditional Hospital, which is the treatment, training, research and production center for Tibetan medicine. Spend the night in Lhasa
    Day 3
    Visit to Lhasa: Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Bajiao Market: 5-6 hours
    After breakfast, we visit the Drepung Monastery, the Sera Monastery, the Jokhang Temple and the Bajiao Market. The Drepung Monastery was built in the 14th century and is believed to have housed some 10,000 monks in the past, but until now there has been a considerable recession, with only a few hundred. The history, culture and religious beliefs of Tibetans are concentrated in this wonderful monastery. The Sera Monastery is a well-preserved monastery with white walls and golden roofs. The Jokhang Temple is another important sacred place that reveals the deepest mystery of Tibetan Buddhism. We continue walking in the bazaar of Barkhor (market). It has outdoor stalls, shops and pilgrims, and is the nerve center of Lhasa. Spend the night in Lhasa.
    Day 4
    Lhasa to Shigatse (3,900 m / 12,795 ft): 367 km, 8 to 9 hours.
    After breakfast, we take the Gyantse to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. We pass the Khamba La pass (4,794m) and enjoy the breathtaking views of Yomdrok-Tso (Turquoise Lake), one of the sacred lakes in Tibet. Nazin Kang Sa (7.252 m). On the west side, we find another pass, Karo La (5,045 m), to enjoy the magnificent view of the glacier. After arriving in Gyangze, we visit Khumbum Stupa, the Phalkot Monastery and Gyantse Dzong (Fortress), one of the best preserved dzongs in Tibet. From Gyangze, we continue to enjoy the enchanting mountainous landscape on the road in Shigatse. We will spend the night in Shigatse.
    Day5
    Shigatse to Saga (4,640 m / 15,223 ft): 447 km, 9-10 hours
    After breakfast, we head to Saga through the river Latse and Brahmaputra. We stayed in Latse for a while and Latse was considered one of the best Shigatse counties to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Spend the night in Saga.
    Day 6
    Saga to Lake Mansarover (4,556 m / 14947 ft): 370 km, 6-7 hours
    We went to Saga to enjoy the beautiful snow-covered peaks and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. We crossed several rivers and passed the pass of Mayum La Pass of 4,600 meters. Today is also the day we arrived at the beautiful Lake Manasarover. Surrounded by myths and legends, Lake Mansarover is located at the foot of the southern foothills of Mount Kailash, is very beautiful and has the image of a snowy mountain in the clear waters.
    Day 7
    Mansarover to Darchen (4,600 m / 15091 feet): 50 km, 1 hour
    We took a Kora around Lake Manasarovar, a sacred ring that, along the edge of Lake Manasarovar, showed a bright color at 4560 meters. After completing Kora, we headed to Darchen at the foot of the Sacred Mountain. Kailash. Spend the night in Darchen.
    Day8
    Kailash Kora: 56 km, 3 days.
    Kailash Kora is an exciting three-day sacred mountain trek. Kailash (6714 m / 22156 feet). In the next three days, we will go around this mountain, appreciate its beautiful landscapes, explore its historic sites and experience the religious significance of this mountain. We drove to Tarboche and walked towards Diraphuk Gompa. We continue walking a few kilometers and then climb the mountain to the south of the mountain. Kailash entered the field of vision.
    Day 9
    Kora
    Today is the second day of our three-day Kora and the toughest part of our journey. We continue the trek around Mt. Kailash and cross Dolma La pass (5604m) which is the highest point of the Kora. We can do a short prayer at Dolma la. Today we also visit the Gauri Kunda which is an important place for the Hindu pilgrims.
    Day 10
    Kora ends, back to Saga: 495 km, 7-8 hours
    We cover around 10km distance and end our Kora around Mt. Kailash today. After the completion of Kora, we drive to Darchen and pick participants who did not complete the Kora. From Darchen we drive to Saga to spend the night. Overnight in Saga.
    Day 11
    Saga to Shigatse: 445 Kms, 8-9 hours
    From saga we travel to Shigatse via Latse. Our trail will be along the Tsangpo River in a region crisscrossed by the upper Brahmaputra and its tributaries. Upon reaching Shigatse we freshen up and later visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery which was founded by Pachen Lama in 1447. Overnight in Shigatse.
    Day 12
    Shigatse to Lhasa: 265 km, 4-5 hours
    After breakfast, we drive towards Lhasa. On the way, we visit Shalu Monastery. Founded in 1040, Shalu Monastery is known for its beautiful and ancient mural paintings. After the tour we continue to Lhasa. On the way, we come across the Karo La Pass (5,045m). Before reaching Lhasa, we also cross the Khamba La Pass (4,794m) with a brief halt to savor the beauty of the Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake), one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet and the beautiful Nazin Kang Sang glacier (7,252m). Overnight in Lhasa.
    Day 13
    Final departure
    Our journey on Tibet also known as the “Roof of the World” ends today. A representative from Himalayan Adventure Nepal will take us to the airport or the train station for our next journey.

    • Nepal entry visa - You can obtain the visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries for 15 days can be obtained by paying USD 25 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries for 30 days and 90 days can be obtained by paying USD 40 and 100 respectively. Please bring 2 copies of passport size photos.)
